Aqua E-liquid (by Marina Vape) Review – A Milky Trio

Disclosure: The Marina Vape Aqua E-liquid line was sent to me without purchase from UltimateVapeDeals for the purposes of review (use coupon code “Aqua15” to get 15% off your next purchase – expires 3/31/20). I will endeavor to provide a fair, unbiased, and comprehensive review of the products described below. The products described in the review below contain nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.

Stuck in the Middle With You

There’s a lot to be said about the middle class, in any field. That class of ordinary, dependable people and things that creates the line of distinction that separates the dross from the crucible, the dregs from the quality. Wherever you look, there is that bastion of middle-of-the-road quality that has earned its place and doesn’t care if you don’t give it proper respect, for it respects itself. And this too exists in the world of eJuices.

I would not call the Aqua E-liquid line from Marina Vape anything outstanding or noteworthy. They don’t have any flavors that particularly stand out for their uniqueness from other lines, or wow a user with a twist or nuance that sets them apart. The eJuice market is oversaturated with a relatively limited palette of flavor blends, so it only stands to reason that some fall into the category of adequate-but-not-stunning, and that is where Aqua E-liquid firmly falls. And realistically, flavors shouldn’t have to be wild and unique to deserve praise. It stands to reason that most people’s favorite eJuices would be, in the opinion of another, very regular and unimpressive. And that is no condemnation—good enough is just that. Aqua doesn’t have to shine bright like a diamond to be worthy of purchase, it simply has to be what it is, take it or leave it.

Packaging and Presentation

The entire line of Aqua E-liquid from Marina Vapes comes in 60ml bottles, each in a simply adorned cardboard box. Both the box and label on the bottle are color-coded to the juice flavor contained therein. The front of the box and label both feature a prominent Nicotine warning. On the reverse, both feature a Prop 65 warning, a Poison Control warning with a toll-free phone number, the address of Marina Vapes, as well as another Nicotine warning. A UPC code is on the back of the bottle, while it is on the bottom of the box. Also included are the volume of the contents and the amount of nicotine contained per ml.

One thing to note is that the food-grade ingredients are certified Kosher. Another positive note is that, while neither box nor bottle has a Born On date, the bottom of the bottle has a Best By/expiration date printed on the bottom. While I feel having both is the best policy, the fact that Marina Vapes puts at least one of the dates on their bottle, while the VAST majority of eJuice companies don’t put either (and some don’t even include the VG/PG ratios). Unfortunately, Marina Vapes doesn’t include the ratio on box or bottle, a quick Google search will show that their juices are 70/30. All in all, the packaging has both things I like and things missing that really shouldn’t be absent. But in the end, we’re here about the flavors, aren’t we?

Aqua Surge E-liquid

Aqua Surge is a time-tested simple strawberry milk flavor, and that’s all it needs to be. Marina Vapes is known for producing delicious juices, and this is no exception. Upon cracking the bottle open and taking a whiff, you’re hit with the scent of a sweet, succulent strawberry enrobed in cream.

Tasting it on the finger and vaping it is exactly the same. It tastes exactly like vaping a glass of strawberry milk. To my palate, I’d even say it tastes more like strawberry milk made with Hershey’s strawberry syrup than Nestle’s Quik. I know to the casual reader, that distinction probably doesn’t make sense, but to those of us who’ve had both, we can tell the difference. Nestle’s Strawberry Quik is sweeter on the tongue then Hershey’s syrup. And while both are far from all-natural, Hershey’s tastes slightly less artificial and processed than its blue and yellow competitors.

An absolutely silky mouthfeel to this eJuice, with perhaps the tiniest hint of a throat hit to remind you that there’s nicotine in the liquid. You get that creamy dairy taste right up front on the inhale, with strawberry trailing behind. On the exhale, the positions are swapped, the full taste of the strawberry lavishing your taste buds as the milk plays second fiddle.

Aqua Surge is by no means a sour, tart, or candy-like eJuice. It is 100% smooth and luxurious. The only other flavor I can compare it to is the Strawberry variety of Creme Savers hard candy. While I personally prefer a bit of tartness to my strawberry eJuices, there’s no reason to not recommend this one to those vapers out there that like milky flavored blends.

Aqua Cyclone E-liquid

The flavor profile of “Cereal Milk” is a common one in the eJuice world, but that name creates a lot of vagueness. There are generally three camps said flavor falls into:

  • The Cap’n Crunch flavor, which is milky with a specific hint of berry and vanilla.
  • The Froot Loops/Fruity Pebbles flavor, which adds a very distinct lemony tone to the milk flavor.
  • And there’s Lucky Charms, which is milky with a very strong hit of vanilla/marshmallow.

Aqua Cyclone definitely falls into the third camp. On the inhale, you get a sweet buttery vanilla scent, reminiscent of the aroma of a pound cake. On tasting it, the scent carries over into the flavor, with a peppery back note that reminds you that this is a nicotine product. Vaping it, you get that buttery flavor, sweet with milk and cream, and a strong vanilla flavor hovering over the entirety. The taste of the dairy is the last flavor to fade off your palate, reminding me strongly of the taste of sweetened condensed milk.

While I have seen other reviews online touting that there is a citrus note to this eJuice like others of this flavor profile, I honestly cannot taste it. Doubly so because I’ve been vaping a cereal milk flavor that is strong with a lemon aftertaste, so I have a reference to compare it to. No, I get sweet milk with a marshmallowy aftertaste, reminding me of the flavor leftover from a bowl of Lucky Charms. If that sounds like your thing, give Aqua Cyclone a spin.

Aqua Lush E-liquid

Aqua Lush was my least favorite of the three bottles I was sent for review, but that is because I already have a favorite with that flavor profile. Described as, “A buttery sweet lemon bar with powdered sugar,” I would say my assessment is closer to the flavor of a lemon sour cream cake.

On taking a sniff of the juice, you get the same buttery aroma you do from the other two juices, with a hint of lemon zest delicately coming through to notify you of the flavor awaiting you. A taste on the fingertip confirms your suspicion, that this is a lemony dessert through and through. On vaping it, the first thing you get is a strong but subtle wave of lemon flavor, carried on the back of a tidal spill of sugary milk. Well-rounded, smooth, and silky on the palate, both lemon and milk linger through the exhale, leaving your mouth with a succulent aftertaste.

The reason I say this is more akin to a lemon cake (and why it’s my least favorite) is that I’ve already found a perfect lemon bar flavor in Freeman Vape Juice’s Imagine (review). Aqua Lush, while by no means a bad juice, lacks the lemony punch that is required to really make me envision biting into a gooey, lemon curd-topped bar cookie as they suggest. No, to me it really tastes more like a lemon pound cake, albeit one drizzled with sweet icing. Again, not at all a bad flavor, but it misses the mark as far as the flavor description that Marina Vape wants you to experience.

Aqua E-liquid – Final Thoughts

It seems to me that, the longer I go without tobacco (over eight months tobacco-free!) and the longer I fill this role as a reviewer for the site, the less and less I’m impressed with the flavor profiles that the eJuice market is oversaturated with. Everyone HAS to put out a Strawberry, everyone HAS to put out a blue raspberry, everyone HAS to put out a generic “Tropical” flavor, et cetera, on and on and on. And while diversity in the competition is a wonderful thing, diversity in the choice is starting to really appear stunted in my eyes when I reflect on the industry. It’s just straight-up flavor fatigue for me at this point, and I find myself gravitating towards juices that are beyond the pale in comparison to what I see every bloody day in my local vape store or online (see my favorite juice of 2019 for a perfect example).

While I’m not trying to infer that the Aqua E-liquid line is bad—on the contrary, I really, REALLY like Aqua Cyclone—I am starting to get mentally tired of not seeing anything really unique. But that’s me personally. To someone who hasn’t been vaping for eight years like me, or someone wanting to change up their juice selection a bit, I can fully endorse the Aqua E-liquid line. They’re not gonna knock your socks off, but they’re cheap and cheerful, will give you a mouthful of good flavor and, most importantly, keep you off the analogs.

Lukas

Having started vaping as a way to stop using cigarettes, Lukas metamorphosed into a regular vape enthusiast over the past seven years. Utilizing his extensive knowledge and problem-solving skills as a regular at his local vape shop, it only made sense to parley that, along with his writing skills, into making vape juice reviews. While conspicuously absent from social media, the 35-year-old former chef now uses his free time by making spectacular home-cooked meals, reading voraciously, and dabbling in multiplayer computer games. Oh yeah, and he vapes too.
