One in a Million
Ask any vaping enthusiast what the most popular flavor is, and nine out of ten will tell you that honor belongs to the humble strawberry. Why and how this flavor rose to prominence over all other fruit-flavored ejuices is almost certainly a question whose answer is lost to history, but it remains a fact that strawberry, in its many flavors, blends, and nuances, is the king of e-juice. With that an undisputed phenomenon, it takes a titanic effort to craft a strawberry flavored ejuice that stands out among its peers. And while Vape 100’s Strawberry Cream Cake eJuice from their Cream Collection line is perfectly adequate, it regrettably fails to distinguish itself from the dozens, perhaps hundreds, of other strawberry e-juices on the market.
Packaging and Presentation
Arriving in a standard Chubby Gorilla bottle, the label of Strawberry Cream Cake eJuice is printed with foil in a red/gold gradient with white text. The front of the label features the name of the juice line, an image of a strawberry and a slice of cake, the name of the juice, level of nicotine, and quantity both in ml and oz. Wrapping around the bottom of the bottle is the customary Nicotine advisory warning. Flanking either side of the front of the bottle is a Prop 65 warning, an ingredients list, manufacturer information and address, and a UPC. On the bottom of the bottle is laser printed an expiration/best by date, but no birth/bottling date. Conspicuously absent was any indication of the VG/PG ratio on the label. This information was also not to be found on Vape 100’s official website OR their retail site. After a bit of Googling I did eventually find out it was a 70/30 blend, but the fact I had to hunt down this basic information is a strike against the company for me. Strawberry Cream Cake eJuice comes in concentrations of 0mg, 3mg, and 6mg of nicotine. As with all my reviews, I chose the 3mg strength. The juice itself was a lovely golden amber color, indicating to me that my bottle came pre-steeped.
Strawberry Fields Forever?
On the inhale right out of the bottle, this juice has the fragrance of perfectly sweet strawberry candy, with perhaps the slightest hint of tartness or acidity to the aroma. On tasting it, you get that unmistakable strawberry flavor but without an atom of the scent’s tartness, and a hint of whipped cream, along with the usual peppery aftertaste that nicotine brings to an ejuice. Upon vaping it at my usual 55 watts, the inhale of Strawberry Cream Cake is true to its name, a lovely blend of strawberries with a vanilla cake undertone, topped with whipped cream. Sweet but not cloying, smooth and rich, with the barest touch of throat hit to remind you that you’re using a nicotine product.
This ejuice is simple. There’s nothing in your face about it, nothing remarkable about the flavor profile or the way the taste of it interacts with your palate. It’s adequate. It’s a bottle of unoffensive, perfectly serviceable strawberry ejuice to fill the hole in your flavor rotation when you empty out your last bottle of strawberry and need a replacement, and that’s it. It won’t make your tongue slap your forehead, or make you bring it around to your friend to have them try it out to see how amazing it tastes. It is what it is, and that’s okay. On the exhale, the lingering aftertaste is whipped cream as the strawberry fades from your tongue, and you definitely get more of that flavor at higher temp vaping, but again, Strawberry Cream Cake eJuice is simply nothing to write home about.
I don’t want the opinion I’ve so far offered on Strawberry Cream Cake to be misconstrued; I do think this is a fine ejuice and I see myself using the entire bottle without tiring of it. It’s neither awful nor extraordinary, and there’s always going to be a place in the market for stalwart, simple juices chugging along like a dependable engine, providing exactly what it says on the tin and nothing more. I, like many vapers out there, love strawberry flavored juices and while this one is simply average, it doesn’t have to be anything other than that for it to be good, and doubly so if you can buy it in the cheap.
As far as cloud chucking goes, it makes a decently sized, fluffy, moderately opaque plume. You won’t win a contest with it, but who cares? Another nice thing about it is that it’s not a habitual coil-fouler; while it does build up carbon on the coils, it doesn’t do so at a crazy rate like some super-sweet juices are known to do. For DIY mixologists, this juice will pair perfectly well with anything you’d normally mix with a strawberry juice. I think it’d be stellar added to a lemon or lemonade juice for a hit of sweetness, to a banana juice for that classic yogurt flavor, or even something like a sugar cookie or custard. All in all, while Cream Collection’s Strawberry Cream Cake eJuice isn’t a standout, it hits all the right marks to make it a reliable, if undistinguished, strawberry ejuice.
Having started vaping as a way to stop using cigarettes, Lukas metamorphosed into a regular vape enthusiast over the past seven years. Utilizing his extensive knowledge and problem-solving skills as a regular at his local vape shop, it only made sense to parley that, along with his writing skills, into making vape juice reviews. While conspicuously absent from social media, the 35-year-old former chef now uses his free time by making spectacular home-cooked meals, reading voraciously, and dabbling in multiplayer computer games. Oh yeah, and he vapes too.
