First of all, let me start off by saying I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.  These are trying times and this event is something none of us have seen before.  I am amazed and proud of the unified response of people globally to fight this pandemic.  God willing, if we continue to do the right things, this will be over soon.  Please take care of yourself.  If you’re strongly stocked on toilet paper, ask your neighbor if they need a roll.  This is a good time to strengthen that questionable karma of yours!  Okay, let’s do a review!!

You know how when you repeat a word to yourself over and over it quickly becomes meaningless?  Try it.  Say “radio” to yourself about ten times.  Complete gibberish, right?  Well, with the Uwell Evdilo Mod, they’ve saved you the time.  Apparently, it’s complete nonsense from the jump.  Evdilo?  I am clueless.  I’ve looked in every corner of the internet to find a definition.  I found some unspeakable things, but not a definition.  I entered the word in an anagram engine and it could not make a word out of all six letters.  On the day I received the mod, about two weeks ago, I emailed Uwell asking if they could provide a little insight for this review.  I’ll let you know if they ever get back to me.

Regardless of the name, as silly as it is, it’s a solid piece of hardware.  A 21700/20700/18650 versatile mod.  Let’s go over the nerdy stuff:

Packaging and First Impressions

If I am honest, I was really hoping to receive the kit that comes with the Valyrian II sub-ohm tank.  I am not a regular user of sub-ohm tanks, but the Nunchaku by Uwell was one of, if not the best, sub-ohm tanks I have ever used.  I would assume the Valyrian II could possibly be an improvement, though I don’t know-how.

The Uwell Evdilo Mod comes neatly packaged in a nice plastic box inside their standard paper sleeve.  Removing the plastic lid reveals the warning cards, manual, USB cable, and mod.  Inside the mod are the 18650 battery sleeves.

I received the silver mod.  It is absolutely beautiful!  It has a shiny, mirror-like finish that can be a bit of a fingerprint magnet, but it is worth it.  It’s one of the best-looking finishes of any mod I own.  In full disclosure, the mod looked a bit, how would you say, previously handled.  All the seals upon opening the box were intact, but it had some fingerprints, smears, scratches, and a small chip in the finish.  I got over it pretty quickly.  I knew immediately I would be leaving my own marks on this mod from a lot of use.

In the Hand

The Uwell Evdilo is not light.  Once you put a couple of 21700’s in it, it becomes a bit of a brick.  To me, the weight feels comparable to the Wismec Reuleaux with the triple 18650’s.  But, when a mod performs, looks sharp, and feels good in the hand, the weight isn’t an issue.  Besides, if you’re wearing a belt, it’s not going to pull down your trousers.

The form of the Evdilo compliments the hand nicely.  The curving around the backside battery cover finds its way comfortably into the palm of the hand.  The thumb easily finds the firing and wattage adjustment buttons.  The mod is shockingly small for a dual 21700 device.  It is not an exaggeration to say it is the smallest, most compact, dual 21700 mod I have used.

The Experience

The Evdilo is very simple to use.  The battery cover is brilliant, saving so much room, adding to the versatility and compactness of the mod.  The batteries easily and securely fit into the backside of the mod.  Really, they almost clip-in.  The battery cover slides securely over the top of the batteries and once in place, there’s not a rattle at all from the batteries.  The tolerance is so tight and depending on the wrap of your batteries, you can hang the mod, without the cover, batteries in and facing the ground, and they won’t fall out.

The user interface is quite simple.  Five clicks of the firing button power on and off the device.  Three clicks change from variable wattage to temperature control.  The up and down buttons, which appear to be one sleek bar below the display, scroll through the settings quickly and the power and temperature round robbins at either end.  The buttons are clicky, and although they do not protrude from the face of the device very much, they are easy to find.

The display is a bit ho-hum.  But, then again, what are your expectations of a vape mod screen?  It is black and white.  It provides the current wattage, voltage, coil resistance, puff timer, and individual battery monitoring.  The display is bright and easy to read, but it lacks any color or frills.  Again, I’m ok with that.  I have a hard time seeing the display when I’m actually vaping.  I knew a guy who could do that.  He was very lonely and preferred temp control to variable wattage.

The mod fires very quickly, even at higher watts.  Obviously, battery life is better with twin 21700’s, but that is subject to the power you choose to use.  I found the Evdilo maintained consistent power through the life of the battery.  I generally vape 65-75 watts, and the vape quality was strong and did not suffer as the battery life went down.  The mod performs as it looks; sharp!

Choosing an Atomizer

When I was trying to decide what atomizer I would put on the Uwell Evdilo when it arrived, I was thinking large.  After all, it’s a dual 21700 mod that I was assuming would be big and boxy.  I didn’t think for a minute I would be using this for my early morning coffee and mouth to lung sessions.  That couldn’t be further from reality.

I started off with the Tengu by Geekvape.  It’s a 24mm RDA that looked at home on the Evdilo.  Ok, so let’s keep going.  I put on the Reckoning by Immortal Modz.  It’s a 25mm RDA that looked just as comfortable.  I won’t go on listing everything I tried, but when I got up to the Zathog RDA by Cthulhu I thought ok, we’ve maxed out.  At 30mm, the Zathog, in my opinion, looked a bit awkward.  But, here’s the thing, there was no overhang! So, if you don’t mind awkward, and of course that’s subjective, you can use up to a 30mm RDA with no overhang.

Here’s where I’m sold.  With the power that dual 21700’s offer and the unique shape and size of the mod to accommodate a 30mm RDA, I was amazed by how good my little mouth to lung RTA’s looked.  The Merlin Nano by Augvape, an 18mm RTA, looks surprisingly good on the mod.  Maybe not perfect, I admit, but it definitely doesn’t look awkward.  Even as I’m writing this, I’m vaping the Steam Crave Glaz Mini RTA at 23mm and it looks like it was made for this mod.  For me, this means I can take one mod to work, a couple of different atomizers, and perhaps if I’m vaping heavily, a couple of spare batteries.  The mod is so accommodating!

Is the Uwell Evdilo for You?

I’ve spent a lot of money on vape stuff.  Too much, one would argue.  If I started with this one, perhaps I would have saved a couple of bucks.  Honestly, I doubt it.  I have a problem, and I can admit that.  It’s the first step, I suppose.  If I were looking for a mod to chuck clouds, I would have to consider this one.  200 watts isn’t power I often require, but when I do, it’s nice to have the option.  I’m not sure how widely embraced the 21700/20700 battery has become by the vaping community.  I do know it’s gaining traction, but the vast majority of devices are still using the 18650.  If this mod appeals to you, and all you have are 18650’s, throw the batteries in the provided sleeves.

Do you not require the high-wattage output?  Are you like me and still enjoy mouth to lung vaping?  The Uwell Evdilo easily supports the lower wattage gang while looking good doing it.  At 20 watts, the batteries will last a perceived lifetime of vaping without having to lug around a huge box mod.  Sure, it’s not as simple as these popular pod mods, but have you found one that does all of this and looks this good??

Pros and Cons

[PROS]

    • Versatility: 21700/20700/18650 battery options. Looks great with a wide range of atomizers.
    • Simple to use: Basic Variable Wattage/Temp Control.  Easy to read the screen.
    • Form: Super comfortable to hold.  Fits nicely in the hand.  Super small for a 21700 mod
    • Appearance: Beautiful finish and color options.
    • Performance: Fires quickly.  Manages battery power well.  Handles high and low wattage equally well.

[CONS]

    • Weight: It’s a heavy mod, but that’s to be somewhat expected with dual 21700’s
    • The mirror-like finish is a fingerprint magnet
    • I personally did not receive a mod in perfect condition. Your experience may be different.
    • It’s a minor thing, but a USB type C cable and port would’ve been nice.

Uwell Evdilo – Final Thoughts

I used the Uwell Evdilo Mod heavily for a couple of weeks.  I can honestly say I enjoyed carrying it with me every day.  It’s solid and pleasing to the eye.  Sure, I don’t know what the hell Evdilo means and I’m not sure Uwell knows either.  The mod performs admirably and I’m thrilled that so many atomizers look good on it.  I can confidently recommend this device to vapers of any variety.

If you check the pricing on your favorite sites, you’ll see it is more than competitively priced.  If you’re in the market for a new mod you will not be disappointed.  Eh, probably not disappointed.  I don’t know you or your values, but I’d bet money you own lesser mods.  I know I do!  Oh, and if you happen to know what Evdilo means, or have an educated guess, leave me a comment below.  I’ll pass it on to Uwell because I’m sure they’d like to know as well.  Please stay safe and healthy!!

His get rich slow scheme involves sharing his opinions, educated or not, on anything vape related.  But first and foremost, his belief is vaping will save your life.  Shane is an outdoor government employee and fully expects the crackdown to begin with him, since he vapes freely and openly, albeit politely, and often uses city property for the backdrop of his vape photos. In his free time, he enjoys stressing about being more productive and regretting every terrible decision he has ever made. He feels switching to vaping is one of the best decisions he’s ever made.
