The Vaporesso XROS Starter Kit in this review was provided by our friends over at Vaporesso (thank you!). Feel free to refer to their site if you would like additional info on this device or any of their other products.
I am not the biggest fan of vape pod systems you will ever come across. I am admittedly a bit dismissive of their place and importance in the culture of vape. My cousin and I were in college around the same time, in the mid-1990s. The internet was just getting off the ground and my interests were anything but what this new step in technology could do. I was the last-minute library guy with panic and sweat on his face.
My cousin on the other hand, to the delight of her father who wasn’t aware of plagiarism laws, was copying and pasting her way to a degree. It has been more than twenty years. I plan to get over it very soon.
I know it is not fair to compare pod users to lawbreakers and exploiters of loopholes, but at five o’clock in the morning, that’s where my head goes. It is an exciting time to get into vaping and pods have made the transition remarkably easy. So, if you’re getting into vaping, don’t be like me, sweating and panicking with old technology. Be more like my cousin, take full advantage of modern vape tech and appreciate how good you have it!

[In the Hand]
The Vaporesso XROS is a sleek, solid, and well-built little device. Their website says it is made with a SUS304 stainless steel coating. I don’t know if that means it is an aluminum alloy chassis with a layer of stainless steel over it, but that is my guess.
It’s nice to hold a pod constructed of metal as opposed to plastic. It feels more substantial like it could take a fall, or a throw through a window. It has a little weight to it, but not enough for it to be burdensome when carried in a shirt pocket. The body is smooth with only the fire button and airflow adjustment to catch a finger.
Mine has the word “SAMPLE” printed on the bottom. I don’t know if that means mine will be different from yours or if it is a sweet and innocent little invitation to go ahead and give it a puff. Thank you, Vaporesso XROS, don’t mind if I do.
The pods are held in place by a strong magnet so they won’t be flopping around in the device and you definitely will not have one fall out. It doesn’t matter which way they are facing to install them, so you won’t be fumbling around, trying to look for an arrow or a clue telling you which way to put them in. Just get the pod close to the cradle and let the magnets do their magic! (Has science figured out magnets yet, or is it still considered witchcraft?)
The pods are very easy to fill. The mouthpiece pops off revealing three holes: the fill port, the coil chimney, and the air release hole. The fill port is lined with a little rubber gasket that helps keep things neat and tidy when you are filling it up. Don’t do what I did on the first fill up. In my excitement, I stuck the juice tip in the first hole I came across. “Wrong hole,” I whispered to myself when I realized I had started to fill up the chimney. Luckily, I didn’t just start squeezing juice right away.
The Vape Experience
The Vaporesso XROS is a surprisingly pleasant vape. Although I wouldn’t expect anything less from Vaporesso, it is great to see their commitment to a quality vape throughout their entire line of products. The mesh coil pods offer somewhat similar taste and vapor production, with the tighter draw going to the 1.2Ω pod.
I am becoming a fan of these MTL mesh coils. I have yet to find one that is super tight, the way I like it, but the flavor is incredible. I’ve been vaping so many mesh MTL coils lately that it has started to change my preference to a less restrictive draw.
The XROS can be fired automatically by draw or by button. I have always preferred the button fire because it allows the coil to come to temperature before I start drawing in vapor. There is also something to be said for draw activated firing. It’s nice to just grab the device and pull without fumbling for a fire button. On the XROS though, the fire button is intuitively placed and easy to find.
Big kudos to Vaporesso for including airflow adjustment. I can’t count how many quality devices I have given up on because the airflow wasn’t just right. On the backside of the XROS is a sliding airflow adjuster that allows the draw to be dialed in perfectly. Make no mistake, this is strictly a mouth to lung device, but I think with this feature, it will accommodate any user’s preference.
Charging on the Vaporesso XROS is quick and easy. With the 5V Type-C charging cable, I went from completely dead to fully charged in less than an hour. The cable that is included, although it is short, is a quality braided cable. I kept the cable with me and the XROS all week at work and we didn’t have a moment’s downtime. Type-C is the way to go for all devices and it is nice to see it being used in a smaller pod.
- Great Flavor
- Fast Charging (USB Type-C)
- Tight MTL Draw
- Airflow Adjustment!!
- Long Battery Life
- Easy to Use
- Short Charging Cable
- Similar Coils
- The Name: XROS (I was curious about the inspiration for calling it XROS and the only reference I found online was to an Anime Series. I know adults watch Anime as well, but so do children. I think it is important to separate our hobby and lifestyle from anything a child would be remotely interested in. We get accused enough as it is of targeting children.)
Vaporesso XROS – Final Thoughts
If you’re just getting into vaping, you have saved yourself from a lot of mediocre and trying times. Much like my college career, I sweat it out in the library of the vape world. My cousin, on the other hand, jumped straight to automatic draw and Type-C Cables. Yeah, I know she cheated and she probably didn’t learn much, but she saved herself a ton of time and suffering. Plus, in the end, I became a volunteer vape reviewer and she’s just a realtor. So, who really won? My thoughts exactly.
I strongly recommend this device. It vapes well, it is easy to use and feels like it is built to last a long time. Whether you’re looking for your first device or you’re an old salt needing something portable, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Vaporesso is here to stay so I wouldn’t be worried about the availability of replacement pods down the road. This is yet another quality piece from Vaporesso. I am excited to see what they have next for us.
