As longtime readers of the site are aware, I am the chief ejuice reviewer for vape.deals and that will continue to be my main role here. However, as some of you may know, our main hardware reviewer, Randy, was involved in a pretty serious motorcycle accident a little way back, forcing him to go on hiatus until he’s back up on his feet. Talking to Jeremy a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned to him that there were a few hardware pieces that I was looking forward to picking up over the various holiday sales, one of which was the Vandy Vape Mesh V2 RDA. A couple of days later, he emails me and essentially says, “You got one coming to you. Review it.” So a big giant thank you to Jeremy for hooking me up with this piece, and as my part of the bargain, here is the aforementioned review.

Packaging and Presentation

The Vandy Vape Mesh V2 RDA comes in an elegant satin-finish black box with gold foil art and text. Upon opening the box, you see the RDA snuggled firmly into a piece of foam, along with a small container (a repurposed SD cardholder) holding four sample pieces of mesh. Beneath the foam, the box contains an instruction manual, a package of two agleted cottons, a QC card, and a package of accessories, featuring spare O-rings, springs, and screws; a 510 drip tip adapter; a small screwdriver; an Allen wrench; a mesh bending tool; and a squonk pin. A normal hybrid-safe 510 pin comes pre-installed in the RDA.

The Mesh V2 uses 17mm*9.8mm mesh strips, which are considerably wider than both the Profile 1 and 1.5 mesh strips, and even the mesh used in Vandy Vape’s own Kylin M RTA. It’s reasonable to assume that you could use the thinner mesh strips in the V2 if you had any lying around, but not vice versa. It’s also worth noting that the spools of mesh that Vandy Vape manufacture are 10mm wide, so if you plan on changing your mesh frequently (which in my experience isn’t really necessary), consider picking up one of these rather than the pre-cut strips.

Fit and Finish

The Vandy Vape Mesh V2 comes in seven colorways: Frosted Gray, Gold, Gunmetal, Matte Black, Rainbow/Neochrome, Shiny Blue, and Stainless Steel. I received a Gunmetal model with a purple/gold resin drip tip. The RDA itself has a 25mm diameter and stands 25.5mm tall. The included 810 drip tip features an O-ring free design, is approximately 11mm tall, and stands proud of the top cap by 7mm. The top cap has very large knurls for easy turning to adjust the AFC. The airflow control itself is a double-row of ten holes on each side of the barrel. The fit and finish of this thing is honestly exquisite. The tolerances were so tight that it literally took me three days to get them loose enough to twist without assistance from a cloth.

Personal Impressions

I’ve been using the Wotofo Profile for almost a year now and putting up with its prima donna nature the entire time. Too much cotton. Not enough cotton. Cotton trimmed wrong. Hot spots everywhere. Inhaling fire. When I saw my first video review of the Vandy Vape Mesh V2, I said to myself, “This is better than the Profile.” And you know what? It totally is.

Building on this RDA is a dream. The terminals are spring-loaded unlike the Profile, which means there’s no effort to keep them open while you insert your mesh. The juice well is vastly improved over the original Mesh, and is even deeper than the Profile, which combined with the top AFC, has led to me having zero leaks in the entire time I’ve been using it. It holds a ton of liquid as well, so you’re not topping up after every dozen puffs. Nary a single hot spot the entire time I’ve used it as well, which was a source of continual frustration for me about the Profile.

The Flavor

The flavor is, simply put, on the same level as Wotofo’s wunderkind, if not better. One thing I noticed, almost immediately on trying them both side by side on the same watts with the same ejuice is, the Vandy Vape Mesh V2 seems to bring out more subtleties, including noticeably increasing the level of sweetness, of any given ejuice. I noticed new things about juices I’ve been using for months when I ran them through the Mesh V2. It is my personal opinion that you should forget all the hype, swirling like a paid promotional tornado, around the Profile 1.5 and pick this RDA up instead.

Vandy Vape Mesh V2 RDA – Final Thoughts

I do want to specify that this sort of hardware review is most likely a one-off for me. As I said before, Randy is our main dude for hardware, and I much prefer to review juices. As is obvious from this review, there’s really not much about the RDA that I can say that hasn’t already been said by louder voices than me, other than giving my personal observations upon using it. Ejuices are a lot more subjective and nuanced, giving me a better opportunity to put forward my impressions. That being said, I really do wanna thank Jeremy again for getting me this RDA for review. Unlike the majority of juices I get for review, this one ain’t gonna be donated to my local vape shop.
